On 19 June 2012 the Directorate of Trade and Transit of the Energy Charter Secretariat organised a gas stakeholder event on transit and cross-border cooperation. The purpose of the meeting was to continue consultations with regard to a possible re-set of negotiations on a new Energy Charter instrument on energy transit (click here for more information).
The event brought together important stakeholders from governments and the natural gas industry, integrated companies, pipeline consortia as well as unbundled transmission system operators from Europe and Asia. The discussion provided a better understanding of the needs for multilateral rules enabling the construction and reliable operation of cross-border natural gas pipelines.
A third stakeholder event will be held on 26 September 2012 and will be dedicated to oil transportation.
